In this context, a group environmental framework has called for explicit measures of
environmental performance, including the following indicators against which risks and
opportunities can be assessed and managed for:
- resource efficiency and carbon footprint
- emissions, effluents, and waste management
The framework aims to enable operations to better understand and identify hazards and risks
and their potential effects, and the preventative measures required to achieve the Group’s zero
harm aspiration.
Murray & Roberts requires that operating companies adopt the most stringent standards,
implementation and compliance to ISO 14001, a standard that addresses environmental
management systems (EMS), whether they are imposed by client management plans, local
and national legislation, or the Group. Currently, 64% of the Group’s operations are certified to
ISO 14001. Murray & Roberts will be tracking progress towards compliance as part of its
internal assurance plan.
